Peace Camp: spreading the love

You don’t normally associate poetry & landscape with the Olympics, but London 2012 is about to change all that by establishing eight ‘murmuring encampments’ in remote coastal locations. Designed to be visited between dusk and dawn, Peace Camp celebrates the love poem and the extraordinary beauty of the space between land and sea. And what’s best is you can take part in the project no matter where you are in the world.

You can upload your own love poem, record one of the selected love poems, suggest a love poem that you think has been overlooked and if you are in the vicinity, you can volunteer to help out with the installation. This morning, to share a little love from my part of the world, I uploaded Day 30 from The First Thirty (for T.H.E. Nunn). So why not get on and spread a little of your own love. There can never be enough in this world…

The First 30: Day 30

It is hard to believe that Day 30 is here… it has been the most amazing time in our lives and writing these poems has been a real thrill, so thank you to everyone who has been following. There will no doubt be many more poems inspired by T.H.E. Nunn, but for now, let’s add the finishing touches to this series:

Day 30

fireworks that burst
the dark sky, show
their colours so briefly

our love is more
like Sirius, embering —
fierce until the end
