It has been a big few weeks of poetry…
First there was the gig at Riverbend Books, then Confit Bistro and just today, the mighty SpeedPoets celebrated 10 years of keeping poetry fast in Brisbane. And binding the three events together has been the Hold Back the Water Fundraiser, a raffle raising money for the many people in QLD who suffered great loss in the January floods.
In total we raised $1135, which will be donated to the QLD Premiers Disaster Relief Fund.
I want to thank Sally Cripps for donating the two beautiful framed prints as well as Confit Bistro, Riverbend Books, QLD Poetry Festival and all of the authors who gave books for donating prizes. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
I would also like to send a special thanks to Cindy, Sarah & Lee-Anne who did an amazing job selling raffle tickets.
And to everyone who dug deep and gave to this worthy cause, thank you… it has been amazing to see the poetry community pull together and make this happen.
