Crested Pigeon

tail fanning
a lover like a ghost
gum cutting
the ribbon of cirrus
head bobbing
like a dash
board Elvis
chest lowered
into poison
red earth:
and you
withstanding this
rousing tension
tight-lipped
till twilight
kisses blowing
blowing
blown
