Project 823: Urban Myths (vol. 2, part 5)

And finally… the myth reveals itself. Here is the closing section of the poem, with links back to parts 1 – 4, so you can take in the whole poem if you so wish. Big thanks to Ashley and Cindy for playing on this one.

**********

It will be meat cleaver
swift/ the clipping
of hooves over tree
roots/ a warning hoot
from an owl/ quickening
the pulse’s arrhythmic
thrum/ your name whispered/
taste of blood on your tongue

***

You may touch the machinery while moving
the angel is not in the wreckage

***

Collars are chipped and rumour
has it, with just one click an earwig
will hatch, hungry for brains

  1. I’m confused – is it one or three urban myths? Love the first stanza – esp, ‘quickening
    the pulse’s arrhythmic
    thrum’

I couldn’t even begin to put a number on the myths we made in this project Gabe! The dialogue was whirling and everyone really tried to push themselves… in many ways, i think this poem is supposed to have a dizzying effect! Happy weekend to you!!!
