Friday Night Lights Project: Week #29

Here we are edging toward week 30 and the switch is still well and truly on!

This week, Cindy hits us with a splash of liquid colour, Ashley reveals a snippet from a hotel room and this Lost Shark catches the bus with Miss July. What lived in the light of your Friday?

*********

It’s Friday & the near-sighted kid who’s catching my bus is in love
with Miss July. His lips curl into a smile & his eyes enjoy
inching their way across every pixel of her.

It’s a cold night & Miss July is hiding in his bag.
She’s whispering dirty secrets. He’s blushing
& keeping his legs crossed.

His parents will never know he has a new girlfriend.

Somewhere they teach the maids
in this hotel to make
rosettes out of toilet tissue

a tribe or colony
that mainly eats nectar
raising its girls not afraid

of beauty that they may
tuck hospital corners
under piano perfect hands

  1. Oh…I could see that young lad with his Miss July…still chuckling about this one.

  2. Both gorgeous, the first particularly!

  3. *laughing* at ‘Miss July’.
Ashley’s poem evokes something I often think about – the ‘other’ lives of people going about their ordinary business
Cindy’s photos are a riot of colour – how did she get this effect?

Glad Miss July brought a smile to the day BB! I too would love to know how Cindy got that effect… must ask actually. And I think you are bang on with Ashley’s poem… she is a master of finding the wonder in the everyday.

      • The photos are simply the effects of closeup shots on cream coloured with food dye squirted into a fishtank. Tedious but heaps of fun.

Only you could come up with that Cind! That is why you make the Friday Night Lights so bright!!!

  4. Thank you, Bluebee and Graham! Love this week’s result.
