Book Spine Poems

Thanks to the always inspiring Kate Eltham, I recently discovered the art of making ‘Book Spine Poems‘. So of course, I just had to have a crack at it… in fact, it is quite addictive and a great impetus to spend some time with your books! So here goes, Book Spine Poem #1:

Hello serotonin:
at the drive in volcano
love is a dog from hell

  1. The pleasures of the damned,
    all poets welcome,
    waltzing with Jack Dancer,
    red leaves.

  2. Love this idea, Graham :)

  3. Green mountains
    the dream songs
    an altar in the world

Yes! Can you please share the authors A… would love to check these out.

      • Green Mountains: Bernard O’Reilly (as in O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in the McPherson Ranges; bought it in the gift shop. Elegant and atmospheric writing; love it)

        The Dream Songs: John Berryman

An Altar In The World: Barbara Brown Taylor

As a postscript, I have often played this same game with newspaper headlines. They make perfect ‘found’ poetry as well!

  4. How clever…must give that a try. :-)

  5. Carmen Keates

    Ulysses
Will You Please be Quiet, Please?

    Night Letters
    Hitting the Wall
    Beyond Good and Evil

  6. haha – too cool :) Just a quick one off my bookshelf:

    a brief history of time
    the odyssey
so long, and thanks for all the fish

(in order – Stephen Hawking, Homer, Douglas Adams ;) )

The doors of perception and Heaven and hell
    A fine balance
    Ladder of years
    Waiting for Godot
