all these sudden triangles
Hokusai’s wave crashes
to the floor
skipping stones
my wife’s reflection
cubed by the ripple
at dusk
the river throws back
the heron’s stillness

Glad these were tasty Amanda! Wish I was there at fringe Gallery to hear you read your haiku… am hoping to hear all about it on your blog and see some pics!
Lovely series. Michael loves Mount Fuji.
Thanks Gabe… I definitely need to put my feet on Mt Fuji before I shed this skin.
My Dad and stepmum climbed up Mt Fuji a couple of months back – up to level 5, whatever that means (probably not very high). I’d love to climb it too
Love these, Graham – especially the heron ku, and the wave crashing to the floor is fantastic.
Quite a beautiful poem. I love the idea of translating a timeless image into a poem…I had to smile at: “all these sudden triangles”. This line gives a shine to how japanese artists craft their work. stark representation. you deserve a cup of tea, graham
